ABOUt me
I am an American therapist who moved to The Netherlands with my family in 2023. Whether you are newly arrived, a student studying abroad, or a seasoned expat, I understand what it takes to leave your home country and begin again (and again). I offer confidential counseling focused on coping strategies and a safe space to process emotions and experiences. Sessions are virtual, which means you can attend sessions from the comfort of your own home!
my story
education & training
I hold a Bachelor of Social Work from Campbell University, and a Master of Social Work from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of North Carolina since 2012. I have had the privilege of working in a variety of settings as a social worker: community agency, nonprofit, in-home, school-based, and in the office. In 2021, I moved into a group therapy practice, and in 2023, I started my US-based private practice business with my spouse and partner, Tim: Second Season Counseling. As of 2024, I am a registered Psychosociaal Werker on the Onafhankelijk Therapeuten Register (Independent Therapist Register) with the Nederlandse Federatie Gezondheidszorg (Dutch Healthcare Federation).

my approach
I have a background in the study and practice of social work, which allows me to view clients as a part of multiple systems that impact their lives and functioning. Social work also values acknowledging the ways in which issues of social justice, oppression, diversity, identity, and history impact our clients’ well-being and mental health. In therapy, I utilize a person-centered, blended approach using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindful Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Somatic and Attachment Focused EMDR to address your concerns. I am also a registered yoga teacher (RYT-200), and I enjoy integrating aspects of yoga, including mindfulness and a mind/body approach, into therapy where appropriate. As an avid reader, I’m committed to continuing grow in my knowledge and skills and integrating new research and best practices into my work.
my values
I am LGBTQIA+ affirming, weight inclusive, and welcoming of clients of all cultural, racial, and religious backgrounds. I enjoy holding space for folks with religious trauma or who have had adverse religious experiences. It is important to me to be continuously learning and evaluating my privilege, practicing from an antiracist and anti-oppressive lens. My pronouns are she/her.
for fun
For fun, I enjoy hiking, exploring nature, and yoga. I experiment in the kitchen, always trying to recreate my beloved Tex Mex food and remember Fahrenheit/Celsius conversions. I love to read and am usually reading a few books at once.
